Revel's integration with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) now features Product Class mapping that associates Revel classes with income and purchase accounts in QuickBooks.
This guide will show you how to set up the product class integration.
Revel now integrates product classes with QuickBooks Desktop. While this is still a summary-level integration (Revel cannot send individual product sales to QuickBooks), it is more intuitive and syncs more granular information than previously.
Before you set up product classes in QuickBooks, you'll need to:
- Complete the main Revel–QuickBooks Desktop integration, if you haven't already done so. Integration instructions
- Set up product classes in the Revel Management Console ([yoursubdomain].revelup.com), and make sure products are assigned to them. Product Class guide
After you integrate QuickBooks Desktop and create product classes, you're ready to enable the Product Class integration in the Revel Sync application. Here's how:
- Open the Sync application on your desktop and select the gear icon.
- Once you're there, check the Sales module drop-down and pick Summary by Class from the drop-down. This will cause Revel to import sales by product class. Each product class will be a different line item on invoices created in QuickBooks.
One of the benefits of using the Summary by Class integration is that the integration can now redistribute funds into different General Ledger accounts. To change which account a specific class is paying into,
In QuickBooks Navigate to Lists> Item List
Notice all items default to the Sync application mapping (Merchandise sales)
Revel will create an item on the item list that corresponds with each class in Revel. Once the Item list is open, select one of the Revel created classes, and double click to edit.
Use the Income Account drop-down to associate the product class with an income account; Circled in Red above. Click Save and Close to finish up.
USING THE INTEGRATION
After you're all set up, the sale of any Product assigned to a Revel product class will sync to QuickBooks Online the following day. Each product class will be a separate line item in QuickBooks:
Note that you can verify this new, correct mapping via the Revel Management Console (Reports > Product Mix):
