Overview:

Placement of your access point is crucial for best performance for your Revel Systems iPad point of sale. A poor network setup can lead to undesirable issues, mainly with syncing issues between the iPad. This is especially important for all establishments that require iPads to sync at all times, whether it is 2 iPads or 15+ iPads.

Step 1:

Make sure all your access points have a direct ethernet connection to the router.

  1. Connect Ethernet cable from router to "LAN-IN" port on new TP Link POE box:Step_1.png
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Meraki Access Point, then connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the to the "Power+Data Out" port on the TP Link POE box:Step_2.pngStep_2-2.png
  1. Plug the power adapter into the TP Link POE box and connect the box to power:Step_3.png

Step 2:

Try to keep a direct line of sight between the Revel iPad POS system and access point:AP_update2.png

Step 3:

Keep the access point within 30 ft. from the Revel iPad POS system. Ideally try to keep the access point at least 3 ft. away from the iPad well:AP_update1.png

Step 4:

Depending on the Model of Meraki Access Point you have, you can have a maximum of 5 (for the MR18) and 10 (for the MR32/33 & MR72/74) Revel iPad POS systems (POS, Ordertakers, CDS, & KDS) per access point. Any higher amount of iPads, it could lead to slower network performance.

Step 5:

For best overall coverage for your establishment, place each access point 40 ft apart:AP_update3.png

Step 6:

Try to mount your access point at least 3 ft above the customer's height. Placing it lower could cause network interference when there's many people around:AP_update4.png

Step 7:

Placing your access point under the counter is not recommended.  Please mount your access point properly using the included wall mount OR mount the access point flat against a ceiling or ceiling-like platform:AP_update5.png

Step 8:

There are many devices or material that can hinder the Wi-Fi signal of the access point which leads to poor network connectivity for the Revel iPad point of sale. Place the access point 5 ft away from heaters, microwaves, radios, other routers, and satellites. Materials to avoid nearby include glass, bottles, windows, brick, stone, and granite:
