Setting Up Credit Card Auto Capture

By Libby | Updated

Revel's Auto Capture feature allows you to automatically accept all credit card payments on the iPad POS without completing a manual batch. By setting up this feature, all tips must be entered before the auto capture time.

Warning: To use Revel’s auto capture feature, you must enable certain settings on the iPad POS. If these requirements and recommendations are not followed, it may result in issues with capturing payments.

General Requirements for Auto Capture

Once you enable Auto Capture, the following requirements are necesary for your iPad to capture credit card information automatically.

  • Each iPad must have the Revel POS app open, but you are not required to be logged into the app.
  • Do not allow iPads to go to sleep before closing out at the end of the night. Pressing the power button (at the top of the iPad) once to turn the display black will put the iPad to sleep.
  • Revel recommends to not use guided access if you are using Auto Capture.
  • Revel recommends to not use a passcode to lock the iPad if you are using Auto Capture.

Wifi and Networking Requirements

  • All POS stations (iPads) need to be powered on and connected to WiFi/AEC.
  • The POS stations need to be in direct line of sight with the access points. Storing the POS stations/Mobile Order takers in a cabinet, drawer, or back office may take the iPad outside of the direct line of sight from the APs. Thus, disconnecting the iPad from Wi-Fi.
  • If the iPad is not connected to Wi-Fi/AEC and/or temporarily drops Wi-Fi/AEC connectivity at the time Auto Capture triggers then the batch will NOT be ran.
