Adding a Custom Message to Products on the Point of Sale

You might want your staff to remind customers of something during the order process: that a certain product contains dairy, say, or to ask for a loyalty punch card before paying. Using a visual reminder on the Point of Sale helps your staff pass these messages on to customers without having to remember every detail.

To do this, you can customize a pop-up message using Revel's age verification feature and have it appear whenever certain products are added to an order. Entering an age via this feature is not required to add a custom message.

This option is available in the Management Console settings via Age Verification.

Enabling Custom Messages for Products

To enable a custom message for a product:

  1. In the Management Console, navigate to Settings.
  2. Click Clear Selections.
  3. Search for Customer age verification:
  4. In the search results, check the box next to Customer age verification.
  5. On the right side of the settings area, check the box next to Customer age verification:
  6. If you want to capture the customer's age in transactions, check the box next to Capture Age. (This is not required if you simply want to show a customized message on the Point of Sale.)
  7. Click Save.

After enabling custom messages and age verification, you will need to add the custom message to each product you want to include the message on. To add a custom message to a product:

  1. In the Management Console, navigate to Products.
  2. Click the next to the product you want to edit.
  3. Click Clear Selections.
  4. Search for Customer Age verification.
  5. In the Message upon adding field, enter the message of your choice:
  6. Click Save.
  7. Repeat this process for each product you want to display a custom message for.
  8. Refresh your Point of Sale stations to view your changes.

Viewing Custom Messages on the Point of Sale

When you add a product with a custom message to an order, you will see a message similar to the following:

Tap Confirm to clear the message. The product will be added to the order.
