Setting  Definition
Auto Logout after X seconds

Non-managers will automatically be logged out of the POS after the indicated number of seconds of inactivity. If activated, input number of seconds before auto logout occurs; we recommend at least 30 seconds.

Manager and owner roles will not be affected by this setting.

Prevailing Tax Rate

The prevailing tax rate is the sales tax rate that is applied by default to all of your products. To set the tax rate go to Products > Taxes. The current rate will be listed in the middle of the page. If not rate is indicated, click on Prevailing Tax Rate to input. After entering and saving it there, it will appear here in Basic POS Settings. You can edit the prevailing tax rate under the Settings> Basic POS Settings> Prevailing Tax Rate page as well.

Nested Menus

Nested Menus turn on a one-touch click-through style menu on your Point of Sale.

This allows you to see only your categories on the menu instead of categories, subcategories, and products.

By tapping a specific category, you'll be able to open that category’s subcategories. From there you can tap a subcategory and be able to see its products.

If Nested Menus is not enabled, your menu will present in the default tiered-format.

For more info on Nested Menus, please see How to Activate and Deactivate Nested Menus

Stay on last item

If you want to add multiple items from a selected page, without the Point of Sale menu returning to the main category page, use the setting Stay On Last Item. This helps reduce the number of buttons your cashier needs to select.

After adding an item to the order, the menu will reside on the last selected item. If this setting is not enabled, your menu screen will return to the main category page.

Return to Main Menu after every order

If enabled, the menu will reset to the top every time the user opens or reopens an order. Otherwise, it will stay on the last product, subject to other settings.

Require clockin to access iPad

Employees must clock in before logging in to the Point of Sale. Manager override is possible, if necessary. Certain roles can also be exempted from this via Role Permissions.

Auto Logout after clockout

With the 2.48 Revel Management Console version, you now have the ability to enable Auto Logout After Clockout. This will automatically logout employees after they've clocked out, preventing them from being able to create orders or perform other tasks on the Point of Sale after they've clocked out. Employees who clockout for break or their shift while still logged in to the Point of Sale will be automatically logged out. Users with the Clock in/out Restrictions Override permission token will not be logged out.

Only order owner may close check

If enabled, only the order owner (person who created the order in the system) or a manager will be able to close the check. If someone other than the order owner or manage tries to close the check, the system will prompt for a manager pin to be entered.
